Interventional Pain Management with Hyaluronic Acid Injection

 

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a substance naturally found in normal synovial joint fluid. It helps lubricate the joints and provides shock absorption. In people with osteoarthritis, the hyaluronic acid within the joint can become lower in concentration and less effective.

 

Hyaluronic acid is injected directly into the affected joint. Hyaluronic Acid Injection treatment can be used in the knee, hip, ankle and foot, as well as the shoulder, elbow and wrist. It helps replenish HA within the joint, supporting lubrication and shock absorption.

The Treatment Process:

• A series of three injections administered 1-2 weeks apart.

• Maximum effect is observed 8 weeks after the initial injection.

• In general, one course of 3 injections has been shown to provide up to 6 months of pain relief.

• Treatment can be performed twice a year.

 

Side Effects and Risks:

• Transient joint swelling or stiffness.

• Bruising or mild-moderate temporary pain at the injection site.

• Infection is rare; however, if you experience fever, increased joint pain, swelling, redness or warmth within the week following an injection, contact your doctor and Interconnect Imaging promptly.

Important Information:

It is advisable to address excess joint fluid before commencing Hyaluronic Acid Injection treatment. To enhance treatment efficacy, removal of excess fluid 2–4 weeks before initiating Hyaluronic Acid Injection treatment is recommended.
